Matt Olsen 

Matt Olsen

Head of Research & Retirement Income

Matt joined Insignia Financial in April 2018, in the role of Head of Research & Retirement Income. Matt is responsible for the development of Insignia Financial's investment philosophy and oversight of the teams performing managed funds research, portfolio construction, direct equities research and macroeconomic research. He chairs the Approved Product Committee. Matt is also responsible for the development of Insignia Financial's Retirement Income Framework and chairs the Retirement Income Working Group, which draws insights from across the organisation.

Matt came to Insignia Financial after being in the role of Chief Executive Officer of Lonsec Research with oversight of their investment consulting, manager research, direct equities research and business development teams. Prior to Lonsec, Matt was Chief Investment Officer of a $5 billion Industry Super Fund. Matt also has extensive experience as a buy-side investment analyst responsible for stock selection and sector research on the ASX and global listed equities. Prior to this Matt held roles at Banker’s Trust and JP Morgan in Equity Derivatives.

Matt holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of NSW and is a Chartered Accountant.

Aidan Haines 

Aidan Haines

Senior Manager, Manager Research

Aidan Haines joined Insignia Financial in October 2018 after the purchase of ANZ Wealth and is responsible for managed funds research across all Insignia Financial dealer groups. Prior to Insignia Financial, Aidan worked within ANZ Wealth for close to two years and was responsible for leading managed funds research across all ANZ Wealth advice channels. This included management of the groups approved product lists across all asset classes and investment related material.

Prior to ANZ, Aidan was employed at BT Financial Group as a Senior Investment Analyst primarily responsible for managed funds research and model portfolio construction across fixed income and more specialist sectors within International equities. Aidan has also worked in investment product management and client facing roles at MLC Investment Management and AON.

Aidan has a Master of Applied Finance from Macquarie University and Bachelor of Business (Bank & Fin) /Bachelor of Science degrees.

Andrew Simpson 

Andrew Simpson

Senior Manager Portfolio Construction, Direct Equities

Andrew leads the team that is responsible for providing portfolio construction solutions and direct equities research for advisers and clients across Insignia Financial's Aligned Financial Planning businesses. This includes both leadership of the team which develops, maintains and manages model portfolios and also the provision of investment strategy and asset allocation advisory services.

Andrew has worked in Financial Markets for over a decade, and has spent most of this time helping Financial Advisers construct and manage portfolios for their clients. He has worked across the spectrum of Asset Classes, providing advice and guidance on Australian and Global Equities, Government and Corporate Fixed Income as well as Foreign Exchange and Derivatives.

Andrew worked in the ANZ Advice Research team for 12 months prior to the acquisition by Insignia Financial, and was previously employed at Morgan Stanley and the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. In previous roles he has constructed Equities and ETF Portfolios, managed Corporate Actions and Capital Raisings and conducted Investment Presentations to both Advisers and their clients.

Andrew is a CFA Charterholder, and holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Sydney majoring in Accounting and Finance along with a Diploma of Financial Planning.

Katrina Croese

Research Operations Manager

Katrina joined Insignia Financial in June 2021 responsible for various aspects of Research operations and communications as well as overseeing the adviser Research support function. Katrina has over 25 years experience in the Wealth Management industry specialising in change management, planning and communication. Prior to joining Insignia Financial, Katrina worked as the Operations Manager for ThreeSixty Research, a division of MLC Advice, as well as holding numerous project based and finance roles across MLC.

Katrina commenced her career as a Chartered Accountant at Coopers & Lybrand, holds a Bachelor of Economics from Macquarie University and a Graduate Diploma of Applied Finance and Investments from the Securities Institute/FINSIA.
