At IOOF, we are proud to support National Reconciliation Week 2020.
This year we’re raising awareness about the services and community programs we have across IOOF that support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples such as our AET Native Title trustee services and work through the IOOF Foundation. Find out more.
In place of our annual NRW event, we will be delivering meals from Indigenous suppliers to Indigenous Elders and community members age over 50 who are at high-risk of contracting the COVID-19 virus and have limited access to food supplies due to isolation or chronic health conditions.
Reconciliation is about creating a nation strengthened by respectful relationships between the wider Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Held the same time each year (27 May to 3 June), National Reconciliation Week commemorates two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey – the successful 1967 referendum and the High Court Mabo decision.
This year the theme for National Reconciliation Week is – in this together. Find out more
We believe that all Australians can contribute to the reconciliation of the nation. We remain committed to the Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), a plan that helps increase the cultural awareness of Aboriginal and Torres strait Islander peoples, that was put in place across two of our businesses, AET and Shadforth Financial Group (SFG). We continue to take steps forward to leverage our combined expertise, past experience and networks to engage with Traditional Owners and to raise awareness of their issues in order to address inequality within our society. We are currently working with Reconciliation Australia to extend our RAP across all parts of IOOF.
IOOF Holdings acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the lands on which our services are located. We honour the strength and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and pay our respects to all Elders, past and present.
